The
store opened in 1902 at 125 High Street. In 1920, the late Mr E W
Harris' chemist and druggist premises were purchased by Boots, as
well as the adjoining property. Later that year, 127-128 High Street
was opened. The Merthyr store had a Booklovers' Library which
appeared to have been opened just after the First World War and then
closed 1941/1942. It also had a Fancy Department which opened on 7
December 1959. The store remained at this address until roughly 1990
when it relocated into Newmarket Walk where I believe it still is
today.
