Dowlais Central Station
Originally named
Dowlais Lloyd Street Station by the Brecon & Merthyr Railway, and locally
known as Dowlais Tip Station. It
was closed to passengers in 1960. (These were workmens trains that ran all
the way to------PANT! This station became the Dowlais Leisure Centre and
is now a visitor centre funded by Stephens & George Charitable Trust
(2015). |

Works Foundry of Guest Keen, which was closed in 1987 after 200
years of iron making. |

tells us: "This is a rare and historically important shot showing the
original B&MR engine shed, which was destroyed in a fire (c. 1925?) and was
replaced with a smaller, simpler GWR standard pattern one-road shed."
