Pantywaun School

Pantywaun a little known village was situated between Dowlais Top and Fochriw. It completely disappeared when Taylor Woodrow extended their opencast site in the mid-60s. At one point only one building remained the Royal Arms public house which gave its name to the coal site.

The village once had 50 or more houses, 3 pubs, 3 churches, 1 school and a community hall.
